DAY 01 – Negombo/ Anuradhapura tour

After the arrival you will meet Serendivus Representative at the airport arrival lobby.
Transfer to Anuradhapura Anuradhapura is a major city in Sri Lanka. It is the capital city
of North Central Province, Sri Lanka and the capital of Anuradhapura District.
Anuradhapura is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved
ruins of ancient Sri Lankan civilization. It was 3rd capital of the Kingdom of Rajarata
after Tambapanni and Upatissa Nuwara The city’s greatest treasures are its dagabas
constructed of small sun-dried bricks and hemispherical in shape. The most notable of
these dagabas are the Ruvanveli which dates back to the 2nd Century BC and is 3
00ft in diameter, the Jetawanarama is 370ft and the Thuparama which enshrines the
collarbone of the Buddha. The city’s most renowned relic is the sacred Bo-Tree which is
said to have grown from a branch of the tree under which the Buddha gained
enlightenment. It was planted 2250 years ago and is the oldest historic tree in the world.

DAY 02- Mihinthage / Habarana

Breakfast at the Hotel Mihintale is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is
believed by Sri Lankans to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk Mahinda
and King Devanampiyatissa which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It
is now a pilgrimage site, and the site of several religious monuments and abandoned
structures. Mihintale is revered as the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, but,
regardless of your beliefs, it is unforgettable: a sequence of beautiful shrines, stupas and
caves strung out across wooded hills, usually busy with crowds of devout, white-robed

DAY 03- Polonnaruwa/ Sigiriya / Habarana

of Sri Lanka from 1017 A.D to 1235 A.D. Polonnaruwa is also a UNESCO world heritage
city. You will be able to see the ruins of Royal Palace king Parakramabahu, Audience
Hall, the statue of king Parakramabahu, Watadage, the Galpotha, Parakrama Samudraya
(Sea of Parakrama) which was built by King Parakramabahu I, covers an area of 5940
acres and the elegant Lotus Pond was built in 12th century. Visit an ancient place
Sigiriya Sigiriya is treated as one of the most remarkable creations in the world, built by
King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). Path through the gardens along Stone stairways come to
the Lion Gate. Only the rock carving and the brick structure is evident today of the lion’s
mouth through which millions of people have walked to admire the beauty of this
magnificent citadel according to history. The capital and the royal palace were
abandoned after the king’s death. It was used as a Buddhist monastery until the 14th
century. The rock fortress is famous for its frescoes and the mirror wall. Sigiriya today is
a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. It is one of the best preserved examples of
ancient urban planning. It is the most visited historic site in Sri Lanka. Overnight Stay at

DAY 04- Leisure in Nuwara Eliya

DAY 05- Ella water fall, Buduruwagala, Kataragama Temple


Breakfast at the Hotel Transfer to Kataragama via Ella Buduruwagala Temple The
group of statues, finest example of Mahayana sculpture in the island is over 1000
yrs old. Buduruwagala is an ancient buddhist temple in Sri Lanka. The complex
consists of seven statues and belongs to the Mahayana school of thought. The
statues date back to the 10th century. The gigantic Buddha statue still bears
traces of its original stuccoed robe and a long streak of orange suggests it was
once brightly painted. Kataragama Kataragama is a pilgrimage town sacred to
Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and indigenous Vedda people of Sri Lanka. People from
South India also go there to worship. The town has the Ruhuna Maha
Kataragama devalaya, a shrine dedicated to Skanda-Murukan also known as
Kataragamadevio. It is believed that King Dutugemunu the warrior king and
Sinhala folk hero built a shrine here for the worship of the Kataragama God in the

DAY 06- Kiriwehera, Galle city tour, Madu river boat safari,
Turtle farm, Colombo

Portuguese built the first fort to withstand attack from the Sri Lankan kingdoms to
the north. The Dutch entrance to the fort with its VOC with 1669 carved in the
inner archway is still in use. Dutch Museum: For a peep into life in the days of the
Dutch East India Company, look into this small museum at 31 Leynbaan Street
The town of Ambalangoda along the south coast road is the home of devil
dancing and mask making. Visit mask museum & factory. Also visits Moonstone
mine. Moonstones are beautiful stones which are white and give a blue shimmer
when watched from an angle. Maduganga Boat Ride The estuary of the Madu
Ganga river is a complex coastal ecosystem of mangroves and islands. It may be
one of the last remaining tracts ofpristine mangrove forests in Sri Lanka. A boat
trip is a wonderful way of seeing some of the hundreds of species of plants and
animals – monkeys eat fruit in the trees, a water monitor lizard glides slowly
through the water, and cormorants, egrets and kingfishers wait patiently on the

DAY 07-Gangarama Temple, Colombo city tour, Kalani

demonstrates an eclectic mix of Sri Lankan, Thai, Indian, and Chinese
architecture.This Buddhist temple includes several imposing buildings and is
situated not far from the placid waters of Beira Lake on a plot of land that was
originally a small hermitage on a piece of marshy land. It has the main features of
a Vihara (temple), the Cetiya (Pagada) the Bodhitree, the Vihara Mandiraya, the
Seema malaka (assembly hall for monks) and the Relic Chamber. In addition, a
museum, a library, a residential hall, a three storeyed Pirivena, educational halls
and an alms hall are also on the premises. Most notable for tourists is the
architecture of the Simamalaka Shrine, which was built with donations from a
Muslim sponsor to the design of Geoffrey Bawa. Kelani Temple The Kelaniya
Raja Maha Vihara or Kelaniya Temple is a Buddhist temple in Kelaniya, Sri
Lanka, seven miles from Colombo. The Chief Incumbent (Chief Priest) is
Venerable Professor Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkhitha Thera. Buddhists
believe the temple to have been hallowed during the third and final visit of the
Buddha to Sri Lanka, eight years after gaining enlightenment. Its history would
thus go back to before 500 BCE The Mahawansa records that the original Stupa
at Kelaniya enshrined a gem-studded throne on which the Buddha sat and
preached. Colombo City Tour Colombo is the commercial and business center of
Sri Lanka located on west cost. The city blends together with old colonial type
building, high-rise commercial buildings and hotels. For example, there is a 100
year-old clock tower. And the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference
